There comes a time in life where we all take some sort of risk. Risk in business. A risk in relationships. I find myself thinking, is this next move worth the risk? Growing up in California taught me to live without limits. I learned that nothing was impossible as long as I put my mind to it. I attended a predominantly Caucasian high school, were out of about two thousand students, there were only about 10 African Americans. (Including me) I learned to take a chance regardless of the outcome when opportunities arose. I was the first African America head cheerleader for 3 years, the first African American student body Vice President and the first African American Homecoming Queen in the history of the school. I believe that during this time I became the risk taker I am today.
HA! Today at 51yrs old I’m faced with a risk that I am unsure of taking. I have taken this risk before in the past and it left me confused, hurt, and disappointed. The funny thing about risk-taking is you have to just hope for the best. Right?
………….. I drew a blank family. The words to my thought process had just left. The truth is the risk I face is that of being in love. There I said it, lol. I think that is the hardest risk to take because you have no control over the outcome. I’m talking about true love, the love of the Bible. In the Bible, love is described as patient, long-suffering, kind, not puffed up, etc. etc (read it for yourself I Corinthians chapter 13) To love like that is definitely risk-taking.
On the verge of tears, I choose to take the risk. The risk of opening my heart to love again and to come out of hiding. Yal better pray for a sister because this ain’t easy. Lmbo!! You know if I go, you go and what risk are YOU facing today?
A risk of love.
A risk of a new direction in life.
A risk of making new friends.
Whatever the risk, count the costs and GO FOR IT! You have nothing to lose and why live with regret. The worst thing that can happen is you learn from whatever the outcome to become a better you.
